A griffin is a mythical creature – a cross between a lion and an eagle. As a hybrid of an earthbound animal and a creature with the ability to fly, it is something out of the ordinary.
Griffins appear in various paintings, sculptures and myths across many cultures, dating back several thousand years. For us, the griffin is a tribute to imagination and mysticism, representing vigilance, unity, strength, beauty and awe. In Griffin Abode, the audience is invited into the world of the griffins, where they get to know these creatures guarding something precious. The first part is about meeting them and experiencing their world. In the second part, the children themselves step into the role of ‘griffin cubs’ and, wearing costumes complete with wings and tails, they get to fly, dance and sing. Adults are also invited to join in the transformation.
Here, the audience can experience being something other than human; who are you then? What is it like to be part of a flock of magical creatures? How does it feel to take to the skies? Welcome to the magical world of the griffins!
